The hyperactive 8-year-old was taken to the local gym and
after watching Muhammad Ali fight on TV Amir's boxing talent
grew from strength to strength. Amir was fighting competitively
by the time he was 11. Within another six years he had won
3 English schools titles and 3 Junior ABA titles. Amir's
opening fight in Athens was in front of a noisy crowd where
he was up against Greece's Marios Kaperonis.
It was a nervous start for Amir but he eventually turned
on the style coming good in the final round winning by 20
points. Next up was the highly-rated Bulgarian Dimitar Stilianov.
Another Victory.
Next to fall was South Korea's Jong Sub Baik. Then the
final, losing gallantly to defending Olympic champ, Cuban
Mario Kindelan.
