On November 12, 1982Alexis Arguello faced possibly the
greatest junior welterweight of all-time, WBA Champion Aaron
"The Hawk" Pryor. In what has been described as
the greatest fight of all-time on many boxing lists, Arguello
would go toe to toe with Pryor, hitting him with every punch
in the book and being hit back just as much. But in the
end, it was Pryor who stopped Arguello in the 14th round
on a barrage of unanswered punches that left Arguello slumped
on the canvas for what seemed like an eternity. In the rematch
less than a year later, Arguello would be stopped once again,
but this time in the 10th round.
