Pacquiao was born in Bukidnon, Philippines
December 17th 1978. He started his career at flyweight his
first fight was in the Philippines January 22nd 1995. He
fought some guy named Edmund Enting Ignacio "what a
name" and pounded out a 4th round decision. Manny went
on to rack up 12 straight wins he was the Philippines #1
prospect. Then he was overwhelmed by a tough underdog named
Rustico Torrecampo (11-4-4) in 3rd round tko . He rebounded
with 15 more wins thats when he got his title first shot.
Chatchai Sasakul was the WBC flyweight champion with a record
of (33-1 ) he was nojoke. Manny destroyed him in 8 rounds,
thats when got the name "The Destroyer". He defended
the title once that year successfully then took a break
for the rest of 1998. Pacquiao started 1999 with a defense
against Medgoen Singsurat, but the inactivity caught up
with him. He was forced to give up the belt at the weigh
in because he didnt make weight. The fight still went on
and Manny was rusty. Hhe was ko'd in the 3rd round.

No big fights for Manny just more wins till 2001. He agreed
to be a late subfor then IBF super bantamweight champ Lehlohonolo
Ledwaba . It turned out to be a good fight both guys throwing
bombs! but Manny was ATOMIC with a 6th round tkodropping
Ledwaba 3 times. Being a champ gave Manny lots of option
but he so he went for a unification bout with WBO champ
Agapito Sanchez . They fought a rough and tough fight right
till the 6th when it was stopped from a cut over Mannys
right eye. The fight went to the cards it was ruled a technical
draw. Now were back where I started 2002 he had 4 fights,
all wins then came a "superfight" with feather
king Marco Antonio Barrera WOW!.
Pacquiao did what many experts didn't think he would: he
knocked out Barrera. Although anyone who knows Barrera knows
that he wasnt in shape and just wasnt himself .Give credit
to Manny he did what no man including Eric Morales could
ever do: stop Barrera .A highly anticipated rematch was
in the works but it would be down the road a little bit
and Manny doesn't like to waste time. He took a quick tune
up against Fahsan Por Thawatchi (some bum). It went 4 with
Manny scoring a knockdown in every round.
Then came what was one of the best fights this decade: a showdown
with WBA champ Juan Manuel Marquez. It started off wild with
Manny dropping Marquez 3 times in the first and breaking his
jaw . But Marquez is tough as nails and he rebounded to win
the later rounds as Manny tired . It brought back memorys
of Gatti - Ward being a see saw battle, they fought to a draw.
This gave a chance for another big rematch but again Marquez
took to long and Manny doesnt have much patience. He didnt
waste no time signing a contract to fight Barrera's biggest
rival a man many had on there pound 4 pound list: Eric Morales.
In a classic main event at the MGM Grand, in Vegas, Erik Morales
returned from the desolation of defeat to pound a close decision
win over Manny Pacquiao. It was a horrendous, bloody battle
in which both fighters had their successes, but Morales’
mixture of boxing ability and willingness to give and take
punishment at the right times was the difference between the
two. Pacquiao was always dangerous but just could not make
his best work tell enough to beat the Mexican warrior Morales.
