Leon Spinks defeated Muhammad Ali for the
world championship on February 15, 1978. On March 18, 1978
an edict of the WBC stripped Leon Spinks of the heavyweight
title and awarded it to Ken Norton. Spinks lost to Ali in
a rematch.
